Tal & Sasha – Part I – Maternity Session
As she approached the ninth month of her pregnancy, Tal learned of some complications that would require an earlier delivery than she and Sasha were expecting. She knew that she wanted to document her growing belly with a maternity session, but she was running out of time. “I have loved being pregnant!” Tal shared with me as we made plans for a relaxed shoot at home. “I don’t want to regret not having pictures of my belly.” There are so many special moments in life you can’t recreate if you don’t document them while they’re happening!
Your Home, Your Vibe, Your Growing Human
I arrived at Tal and Sasha’s home in the late afternoon a couple weeks before the scheduled induction. This stage of pregnancy can be quite uncomfortable so I wanted Tal to feel at ease. No reason to add strain on a body that’s already working so hard to grow another human! That’s one of the things I love about doing a maternity sessions at home. We can prioritize comfort, safety, and authenticity.

I was greeted by their sweet pup Sesame, who is already preparing for her role as canine big sister. We spent time chatting on the couch and in the kitchen, where I learned about some of Tal’s cravings (chocolate milk) and about their living plan for baby’s first couple months of life (Sasha works at a summer camp!). I also got a peek of the baby’s room in it’s final stages of preparation. Tal went straight for the comfy rocking chair and we talked about what you can and can’t prepare for in the parenthood journey. They’re doing a great job already, thinking of the various details they need to have ready while being open to the unknown.

As the sun was starting to set we said goodbye and would be in touch about coming back in just a few weeks to document his first few days of baby’s life. Tal and Sasha, I can’t wait to see you two become moms and document this journey with your family!
