I love an intimate wedding celebration. They are the most intentional celebrations for a couple’s nearest and dearest with a focus on a new partnership. Life takes us along so many different and sometimes unexpected, paths. Elizabeth and Donald found each other right when they needed to. They both have established lives, grown children and grandchildren, and deep roots in community. I was so inspired to witness them join together to celebrate their love. They wanted their wedding to be intimate, traditional and community oriented. It was most important to meaningfully blend their families.
Tucked away under the iconic fig trees and a stunning ocean view at the luxurious Fairmont Miramar Hotel in Santa Monica sat a beautiful chuppah set with all the elements of Jewish wedding. Elizabeth and Donald signed their ketubah in the Library, a room that felt like it belonged in a private home! Elizabeth and Donald each walked down the aisle, escorted by their children and surrounded by their closest friends.
After the ceremony guests enjoyed dancing – including a rousing hora with Elizabeth and Donald lifted in chairs – followed by a beautiful lunch, champagne toasts, an interactive magician, and a laugh-out-loud video montage. There were so many special and personal touches to the day that highlighted their relationship. My favorite was their wedding cake which featured a map of the world and little pushpins in all the places they had been! It was a picture perfect afternoon for this couple and their family.
Elizabeth and Donald, thank you for putting your trust in me to capture this special day. I hope this is only the beginning of many more memorable experiences you share together.
