When Max reached out to discuss photography for proposing to his girlfriend Rachel, I was so excited for what he was planning. He had organized a day-date that would end with drinks and dinner at the stunning Inn of 7th Ray. The proposal would happen before cocktails and then both their families would be waiting as a surprise to Rachel. I love how important it was to Max to include both sets of parents, siblings, and nieces and nephews.
The Proposal Set-Up
Max had instructed Rachel’s sister and brother-in-law to decorate the space with roses and rose petals. She created an intimate and romantic setting amongst the trees for the proposal. I set up with my camera on the other side of the bubbling creek, hiding behind a bush. I settled in to wait for the couple to arrive. It was so special to see Rachel cascade down the steps in a beautiful white sundress dress and witness the look on her face when she realized what was happening!
The Big Moment
I was too far away to hear Max during the proposal, but I could see Rachel wiping away tears as he shared his dreams for their future together. He got down on one knee and presented Rachel a beautiful diamond ring. She nodded a vigorous YES! They embraced and made their way up the stairs to the table where their family was waiting. After a round of hugs and many tears and laughter, Rachel and Max toasted to their future and the joining of their families. The proposal was a success and they could now begin the joys of planning a wedding!
You don’t want to leave documenting the moment your partners says “yes!” up to a stranger or your phone on a tripod. I’m not afraid to get dirty to make sure I’m hidden with the best view to get the perfect shot! If you have a magical, romantic proposal in mind, let’s talk. A proposal shoot is also a great way to get acquainted as you start thinking about wedding photography!
Congratulations Max & Rachel!
